The new MacBooks come standard with glossy screens (it's an option on MBP's).  Is that a good or a bad thing?  Wouldn't the glare on a glossy screen really suck?

Hey man, there are some pretty decent deals out there for laptops under a thousand.  However, law school itself is pretty expensive, but adding on a few extra hundred bucks to get a better laptop is extremely worth it.  Make sure you get something that will be technologically able to last you 3 years, and which will be effective and efficient.  At first it won't seem so bad, but once you start cramming it with programs, documents, and spyware, you'll notice how slow your system can get, and you'll start regretting your purchase.  I know sometimes it's hard to get the money out, and I'm by no means from a family of money, but in my opinion it's one of the most important purchases you'll make in the next few years.

So if I want to get a Laptop that is cheap but still meets the rigirous requirments of this board what are my choices and how much is it going to cost?

You're right duck, it does look really nice..

The Z61t is much the same as its predecessor, the Z60t, but now offers a higher resolution screen, built-in .3 MP web camera and 3-in-1 media card reader..

I would love the higher resolution screen, but everything else I dont care much about.. Bah, it's funny though how they release these right after we get ours.. Still don't know if I would jump, but funny all the same..

Macbooks came out today.

They start at $1049 with the education discount (with a 1.66 GHz Core Duo chip!!).  That's an awesome deal.  MacBook Pro's got a speed bump too.

I was hoping they'd be more like a smaller version of the Macbook Pro...they're a little disappointing.  I guess I'll get the X60s; I tried it out in an IBM store in China and it's great - responsive, small, light, and built like a brick shithouse.
