isnt the tax like 80 bucks? jesus just pay it....probably cost you that much in gas to drive to pick it up.

Well my home is actually rhode island, paying 7% tax on an 1800 dollar computer would be about $125.  My friend goes up to his house just about every weekend and he'll bring it to me, why not save the money and buy some extra accessories or extended warranty? I don't see why I wouldn't take advantage of that.

Yep - you look like you are from Providence or Johnson  :D

not a big deal...just seemed like an awful lot of trouble...my thinkpad was much cheaper so it was $80.

Hey man, there are some pretty decent deals out there for laptops under a thousand.  However, law school itself is pretty expensive, but adding on a few extra hundred bucks to get a better laptop is extremely worth it.  Make sure you get something that will be technologically able to last you 3 years, and which will be effective and efficient.  At first it won't seem so bad, but once you start cramming it with programs, documents, and spyware, you'll notice how slow your system can get, and you'll start regretting your purchase.  I know sometimes it's hard to get the money out, and I'm by no means from a family of money, but in my opinion it's one of the most important purchases you'll make in the next few years.

What's the Johnston/Prov comment supposed to mean.  The only stereotype about Johnston people that I know of is that they are mostly Italians.  I'm from neither of those cities, close though.  You from RI?
