Hooray!  I was feeling so lonely that we didn't have a thread, but I didn't want to post one and ruin my 0 threads started streak.

I am going to be there and am really excited about it!

I know you were looking at Newport News for a place to live but I found a new place that looks neat in Williamsburg.

We visited that area with the real estate agent and it was actually really nifty, but our dogs are whippets . . .very fast small versions of the greyhound.  I am hoping for 1/3 acre fenced in yard at least to give them someplace to run around off leash.

I think my finance liked NN a little better, just because he telecommutes to work and there was more stuff to do during his lunch hour in NN if he wanted to run to Best Buy or grab something to eat.

So, what did everyone like best about W&M?

For me, it was the sense of community combined with the affordability.  And I love the location . . . only about an hour from the beach, no real traffic, but not totally removed from civilization.

Headed to W&M.

Cost. I think cost alone made my choice for me. In-state and $8k was really hard to pass over even though GW might be a better choice for me in terms of what I think I'd like to do (International Law). It's still going to be expensive, but right now, if my parents do fork over $12k a year, it's going to be the cost of an expensive car for the total of three years. It's better than paying the same amount every year if I ended up at GW (actually, might be a little more).

I think I'm a lot more calm about it than I was a few weeks ago when I went ballistic and said a few things that I'm still kicking myself for. My allergies are going to hate me but ironically, I'm going to the school that I really wanted to go for undergrads, before my parents told me to go to UVA.

I guess it's 'pretty' out there in Virginia's swamplands, and I do remember being impressed by William and Mary's flower garden displays and their pond/bridge thing last two times I was there.

Hmmm, the law school is about a mile from the main campus, most of the people in the grad housing walk to the gym and stuff, so its not that far, buts it far enough that you probably won't take strolls on the undergrad campus.  On the bright side theres not that many trees from the parking lot to the buidling so maybe your allergies won't be that bad.

I am leaving the housing I am in now to live in the grad plex, it was decent, I am my own room and bathroom for about $450, I had three housemates only 1 is coming back, he will be a senior english major next year, but hes 28 and served in Afghanstan last year.  The housing is about a 6 minute drive from the law school building.  If you are looking for housing it might be a decent option.

I was waitlisted at UVA and the closer we get to the first day of classes the more I think it was a lucky break for me.  I really think W&M is a better fit for me, but I think I would have felt pressured to take the debt and the top 10 school if they had accepted me.  I also think I wouldn't be quite as happy with my choice, just in terms of fit.

So, who knows . . . maybe at graduation day, you will be thrilled that UVA put you on the waitlist and you picked W&M instead.
