"Center for Student Opinion Research" Survey
« on: April 24, 2006, 12:01:02 PM »
Hey so did anyone who did that "Center for Student Opinion Research Survey" actually get the $25?

It was the survey where someone called you unsolicited, asked you a bunch of nosy questions about where you were applying, asked specifically about a few schools (e.g. U Mich, Penn) and what your ranked choices were, and then sent $10 in CASH and additional survey forms by mail.

I got the $10 and the additional forms, then I completed the second part of the survey but never got the $25 I was supposed to get for completing the second part.

Ditto that. Got the $10, did the extra part, still no $25.

Maybe I got deferred for the $25 and they're waiting to see how many other checks go out before May 1, after which they will reevaluate whether to send me the $25.

I tossed all the material, and the "check" was cash, so it's hard to track these bastards down.  This is really unethical, and there are institutional review boards that would love to hear about it if it's from a particular school.  I'm really curious...

I got $25 for doing the first phone portion, and then was promised an additional $25 after doing the paper/second phone portion; never got the second $25.

I've still got my paperwork, and it seems to be legitimately from a real company, wba Market Research ( http://www.wbanda.com/ ). Still can't figure out who commissioned it. I'd be surprised if it were just a scam.

All the same, just for kicks, I think I'll send an e-mail to Molly Goldman, research director, whose name graces my letter.
