roommates or not?

I'm not sure if I want to live alone during 1L or find a roommate.

Financially, it makes a lot of sense. I'd either be able to spend less or get a better apartment for what I'd spend for a crappy studio not directly on the Metro. However, I've gotten used to living on my own, I like my own space. And taking out a little more in loans for a nicer living space might not be a bad idea, esp for my first year.  (I just don't know how easy it is to get loans beyond the school's budget.)

I think a good roommate and separate bathrooms would be great, but a bad roommate situation could be awful.  Then again, I wonder how likely I am to get a seriously bad roommate ala Single White Female, and as long as someone is (most) mature, employed or in school, and not totally dysfunctional, it won't be bad.

I'm going to GW, older than your average student, thinking about NoVA because I want to bring my car. I've found a few places that are reasonable, but not directly on the Metro line.

What are y'all planning on doing?

if you have money and are willing to spend it, then no roommate, otherwise get a roomie, simple as that.  everything in the world revolves around money.

I'm going to get a 2 bedroom apartment with a roomate for 350 a month. I would have to spend 550 for a 1 bedroom on my own. That is $2400 / year savings.

I've had my own apt. for the past 4 years.  I love it, there is no way I am going to have a roommate again, until I get married.

i don't even like sharing my space with my pet so another person is not even an option. i'm willing to bet if married couples didn't live together the divorce rate would be much lower  j/k...kinda
