I don't remember if I put this advice anywhere, but here it is:
Make a play list for your exam. Make it 30 minutes shorter than the alloted exam period. Then, study with the playlist for at least a month. The songs will help refresh your mind and put it in the same frame as when you were studying PLUS the songs will screen out distracting typing and other sounds while you are taking your exam. I couldn't study with music on for the first month or so because the reading was so demanding, but I did for the month before the exam.
By making the play list 30 minutes shorter than the alloted exam time, I knew I was almost out of time when the play list started to repeat. It put me on notice that I needed to wrap things up. I didn't use the music the whole exam period, but I did once people started typing.
