Yuck

"Tilting..." - snore

"Technophagy" & "His Truth is a Knot" - Poor man's Dillinger...why bother?

"Dasad" - I thought that the first thirty seconds or so of this could easily appear on any christian radio station in the country...bad song, bad production...don't even get me started on the more "intense" vocals

I respect the intention of the OP though...just don't like the music.  Listen to Tool's 10,000 Days instead.

Hey, to each his own.  I'd say exactly the same thing about Tool's 10,000 Days (i.e. "snore", "bad", etc.).

Don't really know how you'd compare "His Truth is a Knot" to Dillinger, though.  They're just not similar.

Question: what is "good" production?

something that doesn't sound like it was recorded on a Fostex 4-track

...didn't really give the last song a chance, so you're probably right

We do have one thing in common: we both like Radiohead.

I thought that you were _____ J.  If that's the case, then didn't you vote for them in a thread about greatest band from the 90's?  I'm not some stalker or anything, I just remember because you waited a while until you thought about your vote.

You don't know me, I lurked for a while until my application cycle came around.

I just thought you might be one of my buddies f-ing with me.   :D

Yeah, I'm MaraudingJ.  I do love Radiohead, so you got me there.

We probably have lots more in common than that.

I don't blame you, I figured that's what you were thinking.  ..."Joker" and all.  When you have a post count of 5,000+, people tend to notice and remember you.  ;)

I also like the first two R.A.T.M. albums, beyond that I have no idea what you listen to.  PM me if you want to compare notes, I don't want to lose the original intention of this thread.  It was a good idea.

Oh, a whole bunch of times.  Good stuff, but I like Veil Maker better.

Have you come around to listening to Mew?

I need to check out Veil Maker. Have you heard the first track of the Built to Spill album? Regardless of how you feel aabout them or even the rest of the album that song "Going against your mind' is amazing. REally just an epic song. Thanks again dude for that OPT info!

Wait, how does anyone know 10,000 days is a snore -- or are you just referring to a general distaste for Tool?  If so, that's cool, we're all entitled to our opinions, but otherwise, the album isn't due until May 2nd.  Of course, it's probably been leaked and me, the corporate stiff, has not been connected enough to figure this out yet :)

No worries!  Also, you have to understand that I REALLY like Veil Maker.  Explosions in the Sky were awesome.  I can't remember track names (borrowed, burnt CDs remain a nominal mystery), but it's likely I heard the track.  I'll see if I can find it to let you know what I think.

kev:

General distaste.  Maynard James Keenan and me does not equal happy couple; also, I found Lateralus to be pedantic and stagnant.  But yeah, I'm pretty sure some of it has been leaked.  I'll check with my buddy -- he has the most insane music hookups I've ever seen.
