Are emails only good news?

I just called regarding my application status and the woman told me over the phone that a decision had been made and I would be receiving an email shortly along with an official decision in the mail. I don't want to get my hopes up... but I'm hoping that this is good?

from what i've heard, all emails are acceptances and rejections are received via snail mail. I called yesterday and the woman told me a decision had not been made yet on my app.

Starlyt, congratulations if you got in. Please post and let us know what the deal is. UCLA is dragging, and they must be tired of me constantly calling them. I'd like to keep believing that they have some more admits up their sleeves, but not getting in before Admitted Students Day is worrying me quite a bit.

I think the problem with UCLA is that people are holding acceptances who may not be going.  Since UCLA has not made many official offers on Financial aid and scholarships, many people are submitting SIRs, but may withdraw if $$ isn't enough. 

Over the weekend, at the admit student day, most of the questions are from people asking when $$ will be offered, and UCLA's response is "soon".  I suspect some people will withdraw their acceptance when they don't get the $$ they are looking for and that will free up some spots.

I think e-mails are good news..both schools i got e-mails from before snail mail were acceptances. Phone calls are good news too.

I emailed yesterday to find out the status and received an email saying that a decision had been made and that I would be receiving an official notification in the next few business days.  Is this a ding?  Damn.
