How young is young for a 1L?

19 would be pushing it. Especially if the applicant won't be 21 during a summer associateship. Alcohol is rampant at some of those events I hear and they may get sketched by serving underage.

if you are 19, people might confuse you for a freshman in UG.  That isn't pushing it.  that is done knocked over.

22. 21 isn't too young but is at the edge of things. younger than that and you're looking at someone who hasn't really finished adolescence, much less prepared for professional school. furthermore, their ability to interact with their peers, who would be half a decade older than them on average, would cause further friction.

note that someone who applied as a 19 year old with a 3.8/177 got dinged everywhere he applied because of his age.

there was a kid that was 16 or 17 and got into Yale.  I think age may have hurt that applicant, but I bet there was more to it.
