Nope, the entire DC metro area is booked solid.  Its absurd.  I grew up riding dirt bikes, but I figure this is going to be much different, no?

it is different. much more stiff-armed, not nearly as easy to handle at slow speeds. heavier, of course, so harder to stop.

not too bad, tho, if you've had some bike experience.

it's entirely possible to teach yourself. just do a bit of reading beforehand.

What about insurance?  Will it be affordable without taking a course?  I don't want full coverage, just liability.  FC is just too damn expensive.  I am going to look at an 2002 SV650 that is a 2002 for 4K or B/O and a 2000 Bandit 600 for 3100 or B/O.  I also looked at a 2003 R6 for 4950.

Any advice is appreciated.  Anybody in washington ride?

don't know about DC, but a course isn't required for insurance in NC, just the license

Yeah, its not required here either, but you generally get a discount.  I really don't even know where to look for cheap insurance for a bike.  Progressive's quote was for full coverage and it was like 2K a year.  I'm not paying more than half of a bike's value for insurance for a year lol.

State Farm has very good rates for motorcycles. I think you may need to have your car insured with them also to get the good rate, but I don't remember for sure.

I'll have to look into it.  Right now my cars are with erie, and they don't offer motorcycle insurance to my knowledge.

I sold my bike yesterday. One less thing to worry about as I look for another place to live. I'm gonna miss riding over the next 3 years.
