Ho much differencee does applying early make?
« on: August 01, 2004, 04:55:04 PM »
I applied last year to Cornell and got waitlisted with a 164. However, since I retook the LSAT in December my file was not complete until January. I'm reapplying now and will have my application ready by September 1. How much difference will applying early make (if at all) ?

The way I look at it, you're best bet is to just apply as early as possible regardless of whether or not it would give you an advantage.  In the event that you are given a better shot at getting in by applying early, you were on board and props to you, but if it really didn't matter, you're not missing anything.  Just apply early.

My impression is that applying Early Action has little affect on your admission chances besides the fact that adcoms aren't sick and tired of reading application files by that point. From what I have read adcoms usually only admit the presumtive admits right away.

Applying binding Early Decision is different though and should give you a leg up on the competetion. I don't know what Cornell's particular policies are on EA and ED though.

Yeah, I was thinking about applying binding ED to somewhere (Chicago maybe?). Part of me tells myself that the advantage is worth it. But I just don't know if I'm sure enough.

Is there a site anywhere online that lists the schools that offer a binding ED option?

There's also a Starry Night Over the Rhone.  Same artist.  Both amazing.  ::)

Here is an article published in the Yale Herald that may interest you on the ED process being re-evaluated.
