Sad/unresolved, but "real". give me any Bergman movie, especially Cries and Whispers.

I'm going to watch Persona later tonight.

Good?

YAR. I have yet to see a bad thing Bergman made. My personal favourite is Cries and Whispers, but the other two of the trilogy are excellent as well. Even Autumn Sonata was great. There is no beautifying or overt sympathaizing - just stark, ultra close-up examination of very close relationships with all of their twists. Totally my kinda thing.

Sorry, I mistyped.

He got the movies. Two of them. F&A (movie version), and some other 5 hour one (I think). I think he actually owns most, if not all of them now.

I've yet to watch Bergman. Until later tonight (or tomorrow).

ahh I see. I personally like them, but they can be draining. Seventh Seal seems to appeal to most people. I wonder whether you'd like that. My introduction to Bergman was Wild Strawberries, but it wasn't until I watched Through A Glass, Darkly that I really became a fan. After The Seventh Seal, the triolgy (Through A Glass..., Silence, Winter Light) seem most popular.. My personal favourite is Cries and Whispers. Once you begin to appreciate his narrative style and thematic choices, it's hard not to get sucked into them all.

I personally recommend:

And

Like Bergman, the narrative and cinematic aesthetic of these films takes some to adjust to, but once you do, you get sucked right in.

The acting is top-notch, too  ;)

:D :D :D :D :D Having watched and thoroughly enjoyed both, I can testify to that myself.
