I'm curious which combination is likely to be better for scholarships. Any thoughts?

3.8/170
170 seems to be a cutoff for some scholarships, and 3.8 is still above the 75 percentile at quite a few schools.

i hate people who have any of these gpas.
But you don't mind people who have LSATs scores in the high 170s, such as 177?

Why is 170 the "magic number"?

True...but 173 is the beginning of the 99th percentile. 170 is "only" the 98th percentile.

I would think, and this depends upon the school, that an LSAT score of 160 and a formidable GPA (maybe 3.5ish?) or better would qualify you for scholarships, at least it did for me.
I hope this helps.
