Rich is being able to become a Monaghan, which means I'd be a valid resident of Monaco. You have to pay $1 million just to join the club. But when you do and you own a nice property there, you know your the cream of the crop. I'd love to dip my feet in the cannes beaches

While were on the topic of geting rich do any of you currently invest and if so what is your general strategy.

I'm an active investor but have no general strategy.  So far, I've done pretty well.  But it's sad to think that once I start law school I'll have to cash in all my investments to pay for it.

ouch!

are you sure thats the best move?

Well, apparently I'll be expected to contribute my assets to law school financing.  But I guess I'll have to decide whether it would be more worth it to keep my investments earning money, and to take out extra low-interest student loans.

thats what im thinking.

if your earning a higher rate on your investment then what the loands rate is....

I should probably know this, but what are the interest rates on private student loans?  Not the government-granted ones...

At least 9%?

Just guessing.

Not even close. I think I'm at around 7.2%.

Hey cutie, what's up?

I say work hard for 15-20 years, retire in mid-40's and live off $30 million in mutual funds.

The appropriateness of Perpetua would probably depend on the tone of the writing.  When I used it, I (half playfully) thought the extra space made the words sort of resonate.

Richness is the satisfaction of material desires; wealth is their irrelevance.

I will attain both by banking on the reemergence of cumbersome electronic devices.  This portability trend is going to fizzle out.  Buy 8-tracks.

For me, the aforementioned comforatble = nice house out away from the city with a good size yard and pool and sensible mortage, nice GM cars for me a SO, pets, nice clothes and the ocassion trip.

Granted, I'm in IN, so cost of living is cheap-ish, and I want no kids. Also I figure in SO's $60,000-ish wages.

I'm in Ohio (similar cost of living) and do all of the above on $80K with $35K from SO.  Well, no pool but a vacation/hunting cabin and 90 acres in SE Ohio as well as the primary residence.  Having my own wildlife sanctuary makes me rich.  ;-)
