What to do before LS in the fall (travel, ect..NOT WORK!)
« on: March 12, 2006, 06:10:01 PM »
Anyone have any good ideas?  I've seen volunteer oppurtunities, but they all charge (??) a hefty fee for just a few weeks.  I am currently a working professional and would like some sort of break inbetween.

I'd travel. This could be your longest stretch of free time in a long, long time.

Actually, it seems most places do.  They call it a "volunteer vaction"

It is to cover cost of room/board and administration.  For most places, I can see it, but some are just blantant rip offs.  Something like, help Giant Sea Turtles and go scuba diving and kayaking for 2 weeks for $5000.

I'm actually going to Honduras to do some language emersion before attending law school. There's a really cheap program that covers all lessons, room, and board for between $250-$400 per week, depending on your intended location.

I'll be spending one week on Utila Island, and about 2 weeks on Roatan. If anyone's interested in attending the program at the same time, please let me know. I've already booked my ticket, and I'll be there from 7/3 to 7/23.

I plan on taking a week or two week trip somewhere during this summer, not sure where yet though. The rest of the time? Relax, go out on the boat, sleep, etc.

Hey just wanted to say that Utila and Roatan are SICK...some of the most beautiful places in the world.  If you get a few days, you should think about taking a side trip to Tikal in Guatemala, it is amazing, and not too far.

Have fun!

that sounds like a scam so they don't have to pay taxes to me.

I would say it depends what type of person you are.  travel lots of places or find one good (cheap unless you have the money) place and relax.  You graduated from college and are going to law school.  you earned a break, imho
