If you have a conviction as a juvenile should you list it
« on: January 08, 2004, 12:59:56 PM »
I was a juvenile delinquentand i got arrested twice, age 14 and 16.  I went to two different programs for them and upon completion they were supposed to be exponged or even dissmissed, I am not sure my parents lost the info.  What should i put for the question where it asks about any felony convictions or arrests?

Thanks

You better find out if it was expunged by contacting the local juvinille courthouse in the location in which the deviancy occured. Then chack with each law school (or current students at the law school to be on the safe side on bias) to find out if you have to divulge information even if iut WAS expunged (some schools do request the info no matter what the status of the recorded offense) Then and only then you can say YES there was on NO there wasn't any offenses. Just keep in mind two things you are applying to LAW SCHOOL do not lie! You were arrested regardless of convictions (just as it asks under that question were you arrested) and secondly HONESTY MAY GET YOU YOUR PRACTICE in other words if you lie, you could be pulled out of law school or worse when you go to register for the MBE (Multi-phasic Bar Examination)  Bar for that locality they will run an EXTENSIVE background check and perhaps since you were a minor all will be forgiven but if they see that you lied (in any way but especially about arrests or convictions as a minor) you will not be able to take the bar nor practice law anywhere.... Trust me you want to tell the who truth the consequences for not being honest are MONUMENTAL!
