Applied to Yale but never sent in my 250 word statement, despite putting a good deal of time into its craft.  I never thought I stood chance to get in and was always generally happy with my acceptances, so I never had much motivation or free time to get the statement out.

Might still get it out this week.

Felt I had an outside shot at Harvard but thought Yale was hopeless, if only because the class size is so small. Plus I thought my 250 word statement was utter drivel.

Me.  I wasn't planning on applying to either one, but my dad asked me to apply to Harvard, and when I looked into it, it actually sounded pretty cool.  (Toby Stock's blog pretty much sold me.)  My dad spent a year as a grad student at Yale, though, and hated New Haven so much that he dropped out.  Not that I'd necessarily have the same experience as my dad, but I knew that even if Yale accepted me, I'd never end up going there.

My 250 was utter drivel--really. When I read it now I shudder.

I skipped Yale, because my 250-word essay was total crap.  And because I don't really like New Haven.  And I had absolutely no chance whatsoever anyway.
Decision made: Harvard Law School '09 (or '10 if I defer)

I applied to both, but I'll probably be turning down Y for H because my gf has an awesome opportunity near boston.

Thought if I could get into Yale, I would get into Harvard and if I got into Harvard I would go to avoid a move.  And I didn't really think I had a chance anyway.
