They wanted my fall grades...
« on: March 06, 2006, 12:20:53 PM »
My top school asked for my fall grades.....is this a good thing or a bad thing?  I would think it means I'm borderline admit/waitlist as opposed to borderline reject/waitlist (I'd assume in the latter case they'd just waitlist me).  My grades were poor, but just slightly below my overall GPA (I'm a splitter).....any thoughts on whether this is all good or bad?  what are they looking for?  How much will this influence them?

This is not good for you if your grades were poor.

 2 examples
 1. my friend had a request for grades, she sent them in, they were only slighly lower than normal, she got WL.
 2. I got a request, my GPA went up but I had a c. I got rejected.

So I think unless you have stellar grades you are SOL.

I had a school request mine earlier this year and was subsequently accepted.  I agree with the previous poster, it can be good or bad depending on your grades.  Good luck.

Basically they just want more info to help them make a decision between you and other kids who are really close.  If they're deciding between you and another kid who greatly improved his grades this semester, they'll probably admit that kid over you.  Of course, if other kids did worse than you last semester when the school gets their new grades, it'll probably help you out!  So its hard to say either way without seeing your competition...

I agree with mrburnz. This can go either way, and all you can do now is wait and see.
