I applied late January-called today and they said I am still under initial review.  No email doesn’t = ding.  At this point, I actually wish it did so I could move on with my life.

Perhaps it's just because your application was so late and the Dean is still trying to decide if he'll use his autoadmit for you or place you with the rest of the hopefuls. It wouldn't really surprise me. Last year they accepted all three 180's.

It still seems like, generally speaking, no email is bad.

You shouldn't be complaining.  :D

"Oh, I see.  Do you think you could also read back my GPA/LSAT? ...wow, those are pretty high, don't you think?  Well ok, suppose Cambridge will have to do."

I thought about saying that actually, but I opted for a polite "ok, thank you!"

Should I e-mail Edward Tom from my law.harvard.edu address with a thank-you note explaining that I am thankful for Berkeley's allowing decisions to be given by phone, as it allows me to move forward with my plans more quickly?

lol. that would be so great, with a follow up email 15 minutes later the reads AN ERROR AND AN APOLOGY.

Coquita, out of curiosity when did you apply? I can understand that BTK's application could still be under initial review, since he applied in January, but I applied in the beginning of December, so I am thinking that for me, no email=ding.  I am just looking for some hope here.  Please tell me you applied in October!  :-\

i just called in for my over-the-phone ding too... good times.

i think the girl is starting to get tired of having to tell people that they are rejected over the phone... her voice sort of changed right when my file came up and she realized that she was gonna have to do it again.
