In some ways, the Boalt ding hurts most, since they supposedly look more at soft factors than other schools.  Getting rejected for my LSAT score...I can deal with that.  Getting rejected because I'm am just not swell enough holistically...harder to take.

 :'(

It sort of hurts the most, because of the reasons you listed.
But it sort of hurts the least, because I also suspect that it was yield protection, which I would similarly suspect in your case.

yale college, earlier in this thread when you were predicting that berkeley was gonna be your first ding... was that prediction based on your expecting that they will be yield protecting or because you didnt think your application for berkeley was that strong?

checked the mail today expecting a ding. found nothing.

i am very confused. i live in cali so if dinged i probably should have gotten it today right? but i don't think i'll get an acceptance either because wouldn't they let everyone know by today so they can start planning and RSVP for admitted students day on April 7th (deadline march 17th). so i don't know how to feel right now. but if nothings in the mail tomorrow i will be totally stumped.

Doubtful. It doesn't make sense to ding someone for yield protection if you really want them as a student. You can waitlist them and protect your yield.

I'm confused about the admitted students day, too, as a bunch of us received emails around March 1st saying not to expect a decision until March 22nd or later.  So, what, even if accepted we can't go to the day?  Or at least, can't have our visit funded?   ???
Work, and a PT online MLIS.  Reapply down the line.

Add me to the ding list.    And yes, as someone said earlier, I thought the letter was very nice...definitely the nicest of my rejections (for whatever that is worth).

At least all my apps are back now, thats a big relief. Now I'm just waiting to see if Berkely can put the f-up cherry on top and admit my wife after dinging me.

It wouldn't surprise me

I sacked up and made the hard decision that I feel will be the best for me and mine. Someone else can freeze their balls or unmentionables off in Michigan! :)
