Not all of it, but it would sure be nice if you'd actually read a history book instead of using it as a car seat.

As Steve Martin says, "I was born a poor black child."

Maybe you didn't hear me: OP CAN'T claim it- I look forward to hearing how the bar association looks on your fraud.

Have you ever bothered to read the race questions?  They say "How do you wish to identify yourself?"

There is no fraud no matter what you claim.

Come on, so redneck Eminem wannabes and rich preppy kids who act and pretend that they are ghetto can rightly claim that they are black because they 'identify' with African-American popular culture?  You think that these white as a cloud guys who mark they are black aren't going to get into trouble when they show up at law school or when they take the bar (for misrepresentation)?  I don't think so.

I'm surprised this question turns into such a vitriolic discussion.  People same incapable of just answering with the best information they have.

Summary: You can choose to identify yourself as you'd like to be identified.  No matter what you are, there is no ID card required (read Anna Ivey's book or any other authoritative look at L.S. Admissions).  The responsibility to be honest and fair is an ethical one.  You should not abuse this system if you don't think of yourself as American Indian, but you can certainly put it without fearing later disbarment.

law schools do not want to get in the business of policing people's claims to certain ethnicities, they only care they can put down x% of this year's class was whatever race.  1/8 is plenty native american enough for me, if i was 1/8 of some urm group, i would certainly put it and i'd be going to a better law school as a result.
