I'm 27 and married, independent for at least 5 years. Just had to have my parents fill out Need Access, though, due to Chicago, Penn and Vanderbilt.

Once you get to the top schools, almost all of them require you to fill out parental information on NeedAccess or the CSS Profile.  I'm annoyed that I'll be excluded from aid because of my parents' retirement fund.

Ha, I don't think there are many people applying to law school who are 17 or just barely 18, but your point Pass is still a good one.  Seems odd for NYU to ask for parental info from you, but a rule is a rule I suppose.

Yeah, although my family is much cooler than I, so I don't mind.  Parents married almost 40 years, one teacher and one RN, three siblings are junior at Oberlin, poetry grad student at U-Mass and second year law student at Miami.  I just hope I can draft off their prestige.
