you must not have parents that seem like they would ruin your relationship with inappropriate and embarrassing comments about your childhood, past girlfriends, etc.

In the first month?  My mother does not know that I have a girlfriend until much later than this.

maybe just "not unlucky"

i also get so many f-ing questions from my mom when she doesn't know *&^% about my relationships.  questions i have no interest in answering.  different people are different i guess.

I used to think this made no sense, either.  Then I dated a brown girl.  To this day, I have not met her dad, and I'm not likely to do so for a long time.

For me, meeting the parents is fun.  But for some reason, moms love me.  I must be charming or something.  Who knew?

How are they demanding?

My parents are definitely more demanding, but that's because at least both my parents know I'm dating someone.

That's a HELL of a lot.  hahahaha

The religion thing is standard fare, but to learn their LANGUAGE?  Geez.

And why does she need a driver's license?

Those are YOUR kids, though.

I want my kids to learn Afrikaans, but I don't need my girlfriend to learn it.

I understand.

Luckily, my parents are worldly enough to realize that it's my responsibility to teach my kids Afrikaans, not my wife's.

Chinese is going to be a useful language in ten or fifteen years, though.  VERY useful.
