You'll note above that I said I would withdraw today regardless of whether or not I got a letter from them, and I received my rejection from them on Saturday.

In all honesty, sorry to hear about your rejection -- and congrats on admission to ND. I hope there are no hard feelings. This whole waiting game just SUCKS.

I got the "reserve" letter when I came home today. It doesn't sound like an actual waitlist though, it sounds like the pre-waitlist list. A second deferral.

But, I had already withdrawn anyway per last week's discussion.

I'm actually not sure that it is a waitlist. The letter made it sound like they would see how many spots they had open in May after all the decisions were handed out and deposits were in, and then they'd perhaps extend even more offers to the reserve list (of several hundred). Then after that they'd form their waitlist. I'm thinking it's a second deferral, basically! Someone very knowledgable about statistics and formulas must've come up with this idea as the best way to get the yield they want, but it sounds like a form of complete torture to me!
