I found that my diversity statement worked out much better than my PS. In my PS i was trying to explain why I was switching careers while highlighting things that weren't in the applications such as interesting work experiences and leadership moments. My diversity statement was just straight from the gut, a basic description of who I am and where I came from. It was much easier to write.
