I don't have a PS yet, but I scanned all of my term papers.  They all had a grade level between 11.0 and 11.6 and all had between 8% and 12% passive sentences.  I guess I write consistently.  I just hope it's not consistently bad.

I read somewhere (sorry, don't know where) that the Harvard Law Review has a Reading Ease of about 35 and a Reading Level of about 12. Does that have any bearing on the discussion?

yes. it means that they should have accepted me, the bastards...
