I don't see how it could help, since everyone has the same score band.  I got a 171, so my band is 168-174, right?  It's +/- 3?  So they could look at me and think I'm capable of a 174, but that's true of every person who got a 171.  And if you compare me to someone who actually scored a 174, then that person is capable of a 177 in the same way that I'm capable of a 174.  I think they're pretty much useless.

that was my impression. since the lsat score bands are the same for all, what's the difference.

however, what about if you retake the lsat?  what if you get two of the same score, thereby (i have heard) reducing the score band?  i guess i am asking if two of the same score is worse than one.

I'm not sure how law schools would look at two of the same score.  But my first thought when I read that was "The worst part of getting two of the same score is going through all that practice and the experience of test day, and paying the fee, then gaining nothing from it"

what is a score band?
Its not the size of the army that counts, its the fury of the onslaught.

What's even more ludicrous are score bands on an average score. My average is 159 with a score band of 157 - 161. Ironically, my actual scores are 155 and 163, both outside the band!
