why?  it is such a national university

i think ND's rep has gone up. wustl will improve, but maybe not this year. i don't see illinois scooting up much higher.

i think ND is so much more presitgious than schools like Minn., BU, and even UCLA.  i would much rather go to ND than a public school.. maybe just my bias for notre dame though.

Maybe you are right. Minnasota is one of those strange schools (like Iowa as well) that is always in the top 25, but seems like it is out of place there.

Why would it seem out of place? Minnesota is an awesome school, and has the highest reputation scores of any school outside of the top 17 (t14 + UCLA/Texas/Vandy).  I don't see why anyone would think USC, GW, and W&L are somehow more deserving of their high ranking than Minnesota.

I hope I didn't offend you with my opinion of Minnesota. I see from your profile that you put an exclamation point next to it on your acceptance list. You are right in noting the high reputation scores of Minnesota (reason for their high ranking), but my posting related to how their ranking would seem to the layman or average (non US News obsessed) lawyer or law school applicant. I donít think most honest (Non-Minnesota native) people would prefer Minnasota Law on their resume as opposed to W&L (which produced a Supreme Court justice), GW (who's professors are always principle sources on CNN), or USC (which groomed Reggie Bush). Do other people think I am way off base?

I guess i failed to give Minnesota the respect it deserves. Living in DC (with parents who were headhunters for major law firms) and now in Los Angeles, I have never once heard Minnesota mentioned as a top law school. It seems clear that if I traveled to the Midwest, I would get a quick wakeup call.

i think the big thing with nd is it's name recognition.  if i were to tell people i'm going to law school at notre dame they'd go "ooh, notre dame" but if i said washington + lee they'd say "where's that?"
