They only go back to 1987.

I think yank23 means rankings for non-T14 schools as well

I actually found the answer from another post. There is a Yahoo group call Law school rankings that has historical data for all schools.

On your LSN profile, you say that the 2005 rank is the ranking published as 2006 by USNWR. So, where is the missing data point?

Yeah, no problem.  Hope you enjoyed the file!   A fellow LSN member actually took the data and made an even more comprehensive excel file.   You can find the stuff he did here: http://members.aol.com/stuje1/lawrankings.xls    (Make sure to scroll through all the tabs at the bottom, he has like 9 different graphs/charts).

As for the original linked graph by Jayscoot, I don't know him so can't say much about his graph....but I think this might explain your question.   in 1987, USnews published their 1st ranking.   They didn't publish another one until 1990, in which they continued on annual basis.   So, what I might consider 1990, Jayscoot might consider 1991, and thus there is no missing data point, just a difference in our classification of the years.

Jayscoot's off by one. The data currently available on the USNWR website is the 2005 ranking based on 2004 numbers. The 'true' 2006 data, based on 2005 numbers and fall 2005 surveys, will be released later this year. Rumor mill is pegging the date at some time in April. Just late enough to not impact decision, though I couldn't say if that is intentional or not.

I don't see an upward trend at Berkeley. If anything they're falling. The last two years were their lowest since 1996. Taken together, the last time they had two consecutive years below #10 was 1992-1993. If anything I'd say Berkeley's graph most resembles Duke's (who you point out has a downward trend).

I also think it'd be fair to simply group GULC, UT, and UCLA all in one. In the late 90's they managed to push Vanderbilt into the 17 slot. As for NW, they look like they're on a pretty slow and steady climb. They need to pass UVA, Mich, and Penn. Possible I guess. Glancing at their #s, they need to increase their Quality Assessment scores by .2-.4 which would be pretty tough.

These charts and graphs are excellent.  I would have attached them in place of my personal statement and said, "Here's my statement: I'm freakin awesome!"  Well done, y'all! 

It gets scary trying to predict the future rankings due to trends when people's law school -- thus, career and life -- decisions are being based on them.
