These are good points

Perhaps, but if you use "arguendo" again, I don't know what I'll do...

BTW, usuing "arguendo" in place of "for arguments sake" or "hypothetically" is a little bit unnecessaary in nonlegal/nonlatin conversation.

I just hung out with bankers from BC last 2 Fridays ago. I think you underestimate the hiring bias towards northeastern schools from the big banks.

No I don't.  I happen to know multiple MDs at every major financial institution in NYC.  I also happen to be from the northeast.  Is there a hiring bias?  Sure...notice how I didn't exclude NYU which if it were in California would not compete.  BC places some people in IB but certainly not tons and BU gets blown out of the water.

Sorry, I was reading for my elective and it comes up in like every case...course of habit :-\

Here's my problem: it usually doesn't convey any additional meaning.  In the context of an argument (exempli gratia the exchange supra), a statement assumed is assumed ipso facto arguendo.  This is perhaps true a fortiori the second time around.

Yeah, but it sounds cool.  Mostly because it seems like a cross between "argue" and "innuendo," which, of course, it is not.

So is this a long winded thread saying if you want to do public interest go to NYU? I'm seriously considering Columbia but am pretty dead set on human rights law, especially internationally in Africa. Would it be a mistake to pick Columbia over NYU if this is one's goal?

No, but it should be a consideration.  The schools are close enough that you should go to where you feel more comfortable.

I hear Dersh will represent his students, so I'm more worried about him...
