December 2002 LR question
« on: January 09, 2006, 05:07:08 PM »
Preptest 39, section 2, #12.

I thinkI get why the answer is what it's supposed to be but can you tell me why E is different from A. And why B is wrong for that matter?

thanks in advance.

Okay --- it is difficult to explain in writing --- I do better explaining verbally.

(B) is wrong because it makes on overstatement.

(A) Is the right answer...the only difference of A and E is the ending --- one (A) reflects the original version more. That is why I would pick (A) over (E).
Kaplan's explanation is: "A, which reflects his wide-open stance on publication of
offensive material and the government’s proper role, which is to say, no role at all."

Did I win something now?

cool, thanks. I originally put down E while taking the test but upon review was more inclined towards A. Another problem with E is that it says "serious harm" which is not mentioned in the stimulus. The stimulus talks about possibly restricting actions that cause harm, it mentions nothing specifically about only serious harm. I figure thats quite nitpicky but it seems like a lot of the answers can be eliminiated due to minor differences in wording, etc.

Thanks for your help as usual :)
