Applications that ask where else I'm applying?

On a whim, I'm applying to Fordham, and they ask me to list the other schools I'm applying to...what's up with that? Do I have to list all of them? this is really annoying and i feel like...none of their business!!!

well I filled out all the space they gave and I included the schools that I actually did apply to (although all my safe schools).. i just chose not to include an additional list... i think its a ridiculous thing to ask on their application

I ended up not applying to UConn or VT but I think I told Suffolk or Albany or one of them that I was. Was that a bad move?

i think that its really stupid that they ask..b/c i applied to a few schools AFTER I sent in my fordham app i didnt know i was applying to b/c i got the fee waiver pretty late

i dont see how they can penalize me for that though..am i supposed to now write fordham a letter and be like "oh yeah and i applied to two more schools just thought you should know"

As long as you were trying to be honest, I don't think it'll matter -- but blatantly lying on an application (knowingly doing so) seems like a bad idea.

No, but if you'd applied to 10 schools before sending your Fordham application in, and only mentioned 2 of them, then i think you're deceiving (lying) on your application.

yeah, i was honest.
i just think it's really the most pointless and invasive question i've ever seen on an application. especially that they ask the date that you applied...are they gonna be like "she applied to bu and bc in october but she's only applying to fordham now, she must not even want to be in new york, let's not let her in..." ? i just think it's stupid and cannot possibly help them make a decision.

I changed my mind about a couple after I did my first two apps, I don't think it matters. A school isn't accepting or rejecting you based on where else you applied.

How do you know if it is optional or not? I don't think this is as important as you all are saying it is... Can't you just say "I didn't know if I was supposed to fill that part out, it seemed really personal to me." ?
