Should you 'name-drop'?

My uncle is a retired judge. His portrait is on the wall at City Hall. I went to his portrait unveiling this year. It was very inspiring. Its because of him that I really considered Law School as an option. Is it bad form to name-drop? Will it help? How do you bring it up? Is it enough if he just writes a LOR for me?

not a good idea.

if you can show a relationship with your uncle the judge and experienced lawyer that makes you more suitable as a law student then yes you should use it.
