GMU's self imposed deadline
« on: July 15, 2004, 03:56:34 PM »
Well, the day of reckoning is almost upon us.  According to midjeep and the GMU admissions office we should all be notified of something by tomorrow.  I'm just hoping that they stick to the deadline.  Has anyone else felt that admissions committees have been pretty inconsistent in regard to their deadlines?

I would not count on any deadline that any admissions committee gives you.  I guarantee it will be 1-2 weeks later than whatever they said.

My hope is that GMU will be different.  They are by far the most cooperative admissions office that I have dealt with this year.  I think most GMU applicants would agree with me.  Maybe I'll set up a website that rates the admissions staffs at lawschools.  I bet that could become as popular as any of these discussion sites.  hmmm....

I have a feeling that if you have not heard anything from GMU by tomorrow, you should simply assume that you are still on the waitlist. From my understanding, all waitlisted students who will be offered a seat will be notified by tomorrow by phone. They will probably begin mailing postcards tomorrow to everyone else. I also agree with the postings discribing GMU's waitlist process. The fact that the school has a discussion board and that the Dean of Admissions solicits questions regarding admissions, is a true testimant of its dedication to its applicants. Good luck to everyone and I hope you get a call tomorrow!

I still have not heard anything.  Unsure about whether to wait it out or call the admissions office.  I'm sure they know what they're doing.  Feeling pretty helpless right about now.  Midjeep, have you heard anything?

Here is the latest update that I know of:

"We have made some offers to applicants on our wait list in the week and may be making several additional offers. Although this number is not final, I expect that we will make a total of 20-22 offers of admission to wait-listed applicants.

We hope to get final decisions out to most wait-listed applicants within the next week."

I haven't heard anything regarding my status personally. Its disheartening knowing that GMU is currently extending offers as I speak but I am still somewhat optimistic. GMU is my only chance at attending law school this year and, given my stats as an applicant, I am not holding my breath anytime soon. If anyone has been accepted this round, can you expose your stats? I am really curious at where GMU is now with their applicants and the direction they are headed.

I know how you feel, I am also kind of surprised that you and I are basically the only ones who are interested in/hoping for GMU.  Either that or everyone else on this board just likes to read and not post.  I know that there are a number of people who live in D.C. that frequent this board.  Just look at the hits on the Georgetown post.  I have basically given this up to God and put it in his hands.  That is the only real way to deal with this type of a situation.

Well someone of LSN finally updated their stats regarding their waitlist at GMU:

It is a reject so it looks as though they are moving fast with the waitlist (both acceptances and rejections).
