i make just over 50k for a university doing IT support. it's supposed to be 35 hours a week (9-5 with an hour for lunch). though for the last couple months i'm in at noon, out by five or six. i have a private office too, so i can close the door and take a nap.

now im working as a project manager...7+ years of WE.  i make enough to live in nyc.

Billing at $40 an hour, usually do 40-50 hrs. a week, but I'm shutting down my biznatch, so my days have been fairly clear.  Lots of golf, and blowing psychic kisses to those lovely people up at Hastings.

now im working as a project manager...7+ years of WE.  i make enough to live in nyc.

anyways, does anyone know about I banking? can i cut it with a poli sci degree? 

as a finance major, i banking has been my dream job and #1 job interviewing target. 

the big i banks in the east side [goldman, ML, MS...etc] does hire libral arts majors. however, they hired almost exclusively from a few selected ivy league schools [from what i heard].

there's a smaller sized i bank based in minneapolis, pipper jeffry......you may give it a try if you really want to work in investment banking.

I just had my review.  I'm a lowly file clerk at a law firm.  They gave me the highest percentage possible, since despite all of my slacking off, I seem to get my work done, and that work remains at a high level of quality.  ( I mean really, how hard is it to file papers away in a file??)  My new salary?  $27k a year.  And in Boston, where I'm paying half the rent on a $1400/month apt (heat and hot water inc, thank god!) and other bills, I'm amazed I manage to save between $100-200 a month for law school.  I can't wait to move somewhere cheaper!

what is the time commitment for a job like that (in terms of years)? they pay well but everyone who works in i banking hates their job. plus they have to put in about 60 hrs a week. i dunno if thats for a person like me who's going to law school in a year.
