It was a comedy (or at least close enough that the marketing wasn't deceptive).  Yes, there were some sad moments, but any movie that has a key scene where two grown men chase each other around a table, isn't a drama in my book.

Who was the third vote?!  Non-posters don't count!

It's too early to give up yet, my fellow drama-supporter hasn't even voted yet!

I'll give you the table chase scene skin (that was the 5 minutes of funny), but I'd argue any scene where a woman exposes her breast-surgery scars can't be a comedy.

Maybe 5 funny moments in the whole movie (all in the previews).  Still a great movie, but ridiculously depressing.... everyone in the theater was crying practically the whole way through!

seconded.
i cried during it.
come onnnn, the part with SJP's christmas gift / reaction of rachel mcadams.
dinner scene with Thad.
sad *&^% i tell you.

:D

Maybe everyone around us was laughing because we were laughing.  We tend to laugh at things that most people don't find funny.

Like when we went to see Dawn of the Dead.  Everyone else was scared and we were laughing hysterically.

out of curiosity, did you see the exorcism of emily rose?
i'm dying to see it but i'm really chicken.
i still can't even catch a glimpse of 'The Ring' without freaking out.

I loved Emily Rose.  It was actually amazing as a legal movie.

It still really freaked me out (as did the ring), but the courtroom stuff was great and the way it presented was also awesome.  That's another one where the previews are somewhat misleading.

I'll call your surgery scars with Craig T. Nelson eating hash brownies, and raise you with the numerous "cherry popping" jokes.

I stand by comedy.

Nelson and cherry-popping noted, but I also offer a crying Luke Wilson and whatever SJP's fiance's name is and the aforementioned dinner scene with Thad/SJP's gift to the family and Diane Keaton's flat out "NO" to her son's request for a ring.

Crying Luke Wilson and Dermot Mulroney took up only a couple of minutes of screen time, and then the film quickly went back to prat falls and catty comments.

And Diane Keaton refusing to hand over the ring got one of the biggest laughs of the film.

no one in my theater found Dane Keaton amusing at all!
