Should you apply to lower ranked schools in the hopes of getting scholarship money? The thing is I don't really know if I want to work for someone else for the rest of my life. The chance to work for myself is kind of attractive. I do not have the numbers to get into a tier 1 so why not go tier 3/4 with money?

Yeah, if you
know
you want to do this, why not? One attractive part about a lower ranked school is presumably you can stand out more. Remember, no jobs are guaranteed.
