what if you want to do trial work? (public defender to criminal solo practice)

Should you apply to lower ranked schools in the hopes of getting scholarship money? The thing is I don't really know if I want to work for someone else for the rest of my life. The chance to work for myself is kind of attractive. I do not have the numbers to get into a tier 1 so why not go tier 3/4 with money?

Yeah, if you know you want to do this, why not?  One attractive part about a lower ranked school is presumably you can stand out more.  Remember, no jobs are guaranteed.
