WHY ND?

Has anyone else gotten an email from ND inviting you to submit a why ND essay before it goes to the entire committee?  I was a bit comfused, I just checked my email and there it was.  I am pretty sure that I am gonna do it, but they sure give a tight deadline and with finals coming up I am not sure how *great* it is going to be.
