Fall Semester Grades
« on: November 23, 2005, 12:21:54 PM »
I think I'm going to do well enough this semester to raise my GPA. Should I submit my transcripts to the LSDAS or to each individual school? If I submit them to the LSDAS will they then send updated reports to each law school? Will the sending in of my transcripts delay the processing of my application?

Print out a transcript correction/update form from LSDAS, and give it to your schools registrars office and tell them to attach it to your updated transcript. LSDAS will process this within 3-5 business days and send out an updated LSAC report to each school to which you have already applied at no extra cost. Bonus/potential bad thing: They don't notify the schools that its coming, so your app is not placed on hold at the AdComm office. If you do not have the form attached to your transcript, LSDAS will record it as a duplicate when they receive it and eventually it will be destroyed.

Just went through this. Call LSDAS, they will answer all your questions (just make sure to select the phone menu option that puts you through to a report/transcript specialist).

Cheers.

Are we required to submit fall grades?  I'm not doing *badly* but I'm slightly below my cum GPA this semester, and I don't want schools to think I'm slacking.  Are we okay just not updating the LSDAS report?

I am under the strong impression that you are required to update. It will only make a difference - I believe - if you are put on the waitlist, perform very poorly, withdraw from more than one class, or in the case that the school has not yet made a decision by the time it receives the updated report (Jan. 15 assuming your school is as slow as mine in posting grades plus the wait of LSDAS rush).

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it!! So I guess I will go ahead and submit my Fall transcripts via the LSAC.

Now my other question is regarding UC Davis: In the UC Davis Catalog it says to send Fall Semester Transcripts directly to the law school. Should I do that even though the LSAC will send them my transcipts to them as well?

Yeah, okay.  I'm pretty sure NYU requires it in all circumstances.  I just don't remember seeing it specified on any other apps.  Hopefully I'll have a decision from my top (realistic) choice by then.
