3.2-3.3 gpa...Hispanic....what LSAT to get into Top 14?
« on: July 08, 2004, 07:01:33 PM »
I go to a top 25 university where my gpa is just under 3.3, and I'm Hispanic. What kinda LSAT do you  guys think I need to make it into the Top 14??  Will I even have a shot at the top 14?? If not, I may just finish this next year, try to raise my gpa, then apply in fall '05 instead.

I have my first testmesters class in about 2 hours...kinda nervous about that first diagnostic score

A 167 will get you into a top 14 school.

If you're truly hispanic (Mexican, Puerto Rican, etc...) and you play it up big time in your Personal Statement you could get into Michigan with a something in the mid 160's.  Boalt would be a pretty easy sell, too.  Otherwise, 166+ at least.

A 167 will get you into a top 14 school.

its a sad day when the color of one's skin can get them into a school with the same scores as someone else who then gets denied because they are white.

BS imo.

Tell me about it!

You think thats bad just imagine 400 years of racial seperation and denied accessibility to any insitiution that might better one's living condidtions.

But you're right its a sad day that we attempt to correct these wrongs.

Here we go again!  Does it have to be every thread?  If you want to debate AA I suggest starting a new topic so I don't waste my time reading it.

Scoring in the high 160's and a great p statement will get you into a good school. Does being hispanic help a bit? I think so, how many Latinos you know are scoring high 160's.. thats a rare gem that any top school wants to add to their student body. I sure didn't score in the 160's and being Hispanic hasn't helped me one bit in the application process. If your a minority and you want to go to a top school, u have to have excellent grades and a great LSAT score to be even considered - that goes for every applicant regardless of race. From my experience, it seemed that I needed to be a single mother with 2 kids living in public housing to be given the chance.

Good Luck
