"Major" issue

"Major" issue
« on: November 08, 2005, 04:22:35 PM »
It looks like I will have the credits to graduate next December with a B.A. in Social Sciences, and only have to take 12 hours my last semester. If I add one more three hour class, take an (easy-ass) standardized test, and stay around for Spring semester to student teach, I could get a Social Sciences teaching degree as well. Is it worth it? I wouldn't find the student teaching (I love being in the classroom) but will law schools think less of me with an education degree than if I only had the non-teaching social science degree?

Damn straight.  Do it.  It's an extra, no matter how you look at it.  Besides, that just reads like an awesome EC!

Also, 10 points for the thread title!  hahaha

Since you are applying to law SCHOOL I would imagine they hold educators in high esteem.  Also, no major is going to help or hurt you THAT much.

On this note, many people in high society look down on teachers, these people are commonly referred to as douchebags.

Or people who had crappy teachers, like many of us...

Not that I'm defending the habit.  hahaha

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't begin to see why law schools would think less of you for having an additional degree.  What am I not picking up on in this situation?

I'd definitely do it especially since you can't enter most law schools in Dec anyway

good luck!
