Decision Dates for Last Year (UPDATED WITH DING DATES)

I am in favor of getting a decision -- accept or reject -- earlier. I think after you wait until March for a few of these schools, then get rejected, you might feel the same. All those wasted months hoping for an acceptance when in reality the adcomm may have known right away you were going to get rejected.

I also, sadly, think it seems kind of mean to send out rejections before acceptances, but in a way it may make more sense. If you look at last cycle for any given school, there are many, many people in there whose numbers are so bad you go, "Oh my GOD, what were you thinking?"

They can't all have been astronauts or nobel prize winners. And besides, astronauts and nobel prize winners usually have good GPA's.

Well, last year USC had an EA option, where people were guaranteed to hear within 2 weeks of going compelte.  The reps I've talked to said they were *trying* to get out *some* decisions before the new year. So, we'll see how this one plays out...

This is just when acceptances started going out.  There was no distinction between EA and ED, because I'm nice, but I'm not that nice!

Stanford and Harvard seem to accept some people right before Thanksgiving to make for a great holiday weekend; but now with LSN, those people that don't get the acceptance that week may have a nervous breakdown in front of the turkey and pumpkin pie.

Maybe the really well qualified people, anyway.  I feel like for the borderline cases it's pretty obvious that we won't be hearing that early; that's mostly for the stunningly well qualified.
