This morning's paper has an article describing riots that broke out in Toledo.  There were some people demonstrating against a white supremacy group that was getting ready for a march.  The Mayor had to declare a state of emergency and there was violence, etc.  A bar was set on fire, stores and cars were vandalized and the police had quite a situation on their hands.  I think 65 people were arrested...

I'm wondering if this would be a good city to live and attend school in???

I heard about that too. I also heard town officials are really confused as to why it happened in the town because usually everyone gets along there. I tend to believe them and feel its an isolated incident.

As far as Toledo being a good city to live and attend law school in, I'd have to say no. It's Toledo and it's in Ohio. It's got two strikes against it! Regardless of how safe it is, I'd give a tripple thought to moving there.

The situation with the white supremacy group occurred in the North Side of Toledo.  This is not near the law school nor is it where a majority of the student population lives so we were largely unaffected by it.  Do not base your decision on this particular incident because it is, as another posted stated, an isolated incident.

Ohio SUCKS and Toledo sort of Sucks. However, Im enjoying my time here and I like the school.

There are crappy, dangerous areas in any american city.  Some of the worst neighborhoods in the country are in and around NYC.  Does this mean you shoudn't attend Columbia or NYU?

It all depends on what part of the city you're in, and you presumably won't be visiting the bad parts. (Schools are usually in good parts.)

I was watching the riot occuring on the news and it is pretty freaky. It is not as scary as when I found out my school actually allowed a National Socialist Club to exist on-campus. It turned out to be a lot of white supremacist's and the school later disbanded it. I mean, did they not read the constitution of the club or what? Not to many ppl know of this incident but I am trying to get the school paper to talk about it. Also, to bring to light that our university administrative system sucks big balloons.

Kind of scary really. After this incident, the school had to implement a lot of "anti-racism" events such as Holocaust Rememberance Month and actually host a lot of events aimed at the African American and Hispanic Ccommuniy.

Where did the riot take place?  Someone said north of downtown, but where?  Point Place? Five Points?  Those aren't predominantly black communities, like the article I read suggested?  Could a local, tell me where it took place?
