Let's play a little remembering game.  Name each decade up to the 1940s, and just THREE things you associate with each decade.  (If you are too young to remember, which is most of us INCLUDING jeffjoe, then go by what you have learned or what your parents told you.)

90s- Michael Jordan, Internet boom and crash, Bill Clinton
80s- SDI (Strategic Defense Initiative), Ronald Reagan, USSR
70s- Oil Crisis, Watergate, Vietnam
60s- Vietnam, Cuban Missile Crisis, Free sex
50s- Korean War, Mao Tse Tung, My parents' birth
40s- WWII, FDR, Nuclear weapons

Almost every decade, I associate with a president.  Interesting, but normal I guess

50s - my mom was born.  nuff said.
60s - damn good music, was tie-dye this decade?,
70s - family ties, threes company, whats happenin
80s - new wave music, parachute pants, bob's big boy
90s - poker popularity, hip-hop, AIDS

80s: Good - thundercats, beastmaster, disney world, miami (fl)
     Bad - reaganomics, funky hairstyles
70s: Good - *shrugs* the facts of life?
     Bad - Iranian revolution
60s: Good - beats me...
     Bad - hippies
50s: no clue
40s: Good - industrial boom
     Bad - WW3

80's: bad hair, worse music, no meat on the dinner table
70's: i don't know, wasn't around back then
60's: cold war, cold war, cold war
50's: cool cars, great music, bright red lipstick
40's: WW2, Stalin, Russian work camps

Actually, we do experience it every day.  McCarthyism and the Red Scare made liberal a dirty word and narrowed the political debate greatly.
