What would one do about letters of recomendation from professors if, for instance, they've been in the work force or millitary for for years or so after college?

If you are like me and have been working for 15 plus years, there is no way a LOR from a professor is an option (at least as far as I can tell).  I think your best bet is to get LOR from current employers or anyone else who can speak candidly and honestly about you and what you offer the law school.

See my response to "who do I ask?" in this same subject area. Same advice: use your supervisor. And make sure he likes you. If you have to, buy him a bottle of Gentleman Jack. Or whatever. Just make sure it's favorable.
