Does this ever happen to you in RC?
« on: September 22, 2005, 05:01:18 PM »
I've just timed myself for the RC section from TM supplemental material, and I noticed that one of the passage was extremely tough.  When I was going through them I felt like I totally failed this portion of the RC, but ended up getting 6/7.  At the same time, there are events where I feel like I totally understood the passage and the question and end up missing majority of the questions.

I seriously hope this doesn't happen on the real thing. :-\

Always happens to me.  When I feel like a RC was tough and tiring, I get them all correct.  I am only getting a 2-3 wrong on the section though, so my experience might be somewhat different.

However, when I have that tired-brain feeling, I've learned it's good for RC.  Now for LG...
Last tests:  169,171,169,177(?!),170,170,171
UGPA: 3.78
M.A.GPA: 3.7

Holy sh&t this exam was what I wanted -- easy LG.  But the LR I usually crush, I didn't get to last question on both!!! What to do...

Yup. Seems true for me too. That is, doing better when the passage is more engaging/difficult.

It's very unnerving, but it happens to me too sometimes.

It means that you are not understanding anything.  If you don't know if you "understood the passage or not.." this is problematic.

The test writers give relatively easier questions to difficult passages.

I typically get wrong on the hard passages, and then the easy passages I always get right.

And I'm finding I'll spend like 10 minutes on one hard passage, and then the easy one will only take me about 5-6 minutes (and I'll get them all right).  Don't know why, hope I just get them all right on the test, lol, a perfect RC would help soooo much.
