I think the LSAT is probably the trigger for a lot of it.

In their letter, Columbia basically came out and said that the waiver was 100% based on the LSAT and took nothing else into consideration (as part of the warning that it didn't imply a guarentee of acceptance).  I would imagine they're not the only ones.

Just an FYI to add to the convo, I received a WM and Mary as ell as a Wash and Lee waiver last year when I did not have an LSAT.  I didn't have to call and ask if I could use them this year b/c both offered waivers again to me.  So maybe some schools it is all about LSAT, but not all.  I think I may have gotten my pre-lsat ones b/c of gpa/location combo. Just a guess, not for certain.

When did you get your W&M one for this year?  I have an email one from last November that I was going to call them and ask if I could use for this cycle, but if they are sending them out again...

In July, I think. It was an email. However, you might want to check on LSAC b/c when I submitted my app, they had me down as having my fee waived due to crs.

I received an e-mail notice from UVa saying they've received my app.  They also directed me to the Application Status Monitor webpage.
