The La times is reporting that michael Jackson died.

This board has died. I remember when it would go 10-12 pages a day.

Word. A lot of the old heads left, and there hasn't been enough new blood to replace them.

And apparently some of the old heads who are still around are poisonous.

That's cool how you referenced a case.

Yes, those were the good ol' days.  Two years ago, news of Michael Jackson's death would've taken a good 20 pages.

Hey P!

You know, I came here first to find out if it was true (I had been in court all day and a homeless guy told me on my way back to the office so I was obviously a bit skeptical) and there was nary a peep.

Sad I tell ya.  Sad.  On both accounts (Mike and the Board)

This theme seems to be across the board in general, although there are still some areas that are thriving.  What do you guys think the deal is with the lack of Newbies?

I think they've just migrated.  Last I heard, www.top-law-schools.com was the hot spot (but I don't really follow along anymore).  I don't know if there is a forum for minorities though.  For whatever reason, there just haven't been as many n00bs to carry on the torch now that we old heads are too busy to post all day.

I think we can trace the entire decline to OSA's departure!

Just kidding.  I think the disappearance of the search function, influx of spammers, and rampant d-dubbing (deleting all one's posts) make the site much less friendly to newcomers.  Some have suggested that cliquishness also plays a role; I'm not so sure.  BLSD and the on-topic areas don't seem too cliquish to me (and if they are, they were much worse back in the day).

ETA: Hi Alci!

ETA2: Also, the facts that the site breaks down and there are lots of database errors (e.g., posts not showing up as new, posts not showing up at all until you are in the "reply" view) don't help.
