< 3.0 GPA, still a viable applicant?
« on: August 20, 2005, 04:46:22 PM »
Even a couple of years out of school, does a sub 3.0 GPA exclude you from tier1?

Most schools do accept some in the 2.75-2.99 range, but is that mostly URM and special circumstances?

Well what is your LSAT score?

What your LSAT score is, or what you think it will be, is the $25,000 question.  If you crack 170 then you definitely have a chance at T1.  Also, if you had a difficult major, like engineering or biology, then that could work in your favor.  Just nail the LSAT and you can give yourself a very legitimate shot.

are you going to look it up for him or something?  hahaha....

OP, just go to chiashu and plug em in! or look at people on LSN
No, I wasn't going to look it up, but if he has a 150 LSAT, I think we know the answer to the question, NO.

Anyway, what is chiashu and LSN?

Unless you have a VERY strong LSAT score, yes.

welcome to the world of paranoia and speculation...enjoy, it'll last until your accepted somewhere.

That is a blatant and heinous lie!  It'll last until you're accepted into Yale.

Forget the valuable service part. I was thinking of the street corner variety ;D

"daddy why are the policemen arresting all the pretty ladies?"

well let me address this a couple ways:

in real life or on discussion boards?  Because on this board they do provide me a chuckle occasionally with all the rampant prestige whoring they spew.

Hmmmm..interesting.  Nothing like the poster who takes the time to tell other posters they shouldn't post.  That's pretty useful.  Let me address those concerns first:

1. are you a prestige whore and Tier 1 is all you'll consider?  hmmmm?
No, but it's probably close to fact that ranks do matter in terms of job possibilities.  And if I can get into T1, then I should be able to get into some T2 which a few of the schools I am looking at fall into.

2. Pre-law posters here will likely ramble on and on about this, but you could very easily just look at the stats on the respective sites to get the answer, no?
It's called asking for people's opinions, moron.  If you had more skills than just being a annoying you would be able to read my original post and see that I am inquiring about the circumstances of those that fall under 3.0 and still get in.

not trying to be a male private part, just sayin is all :)
Good job side-stepping that landmine.

For those who actually tried to be helpful, thanks.
My LSATs are unfortunately also a split, 154 and 170.  I know to some extent, it is a numbers game for law schools as well and wonder if they will overlook the lower LSAT.

I guess asking Phanatic not to post unless it is something remotely useful won't help.  Seems like he gets off on being a jerk.
