Hi guys!
Hope you're all well! I am back for more of your wonderful advice! This time with some positive news!
Recently, I was offered 2 jobs both in in-house settings.
Job Offer #1 features:
• Part-time work schedule during school year from now until graduation (at least that’s what they’re saying they would like, but obviously subject to CA’s at-will termination as most jobs seem to be these days)
• Full time for 2L summer. (40 hrs/week)
• Rate is $18/hour.
• A chance of post-grad employment as their current attorneys are getting ready for retirement and the hiring attorney recently hired a few brand new law school grads as new attorneys.
Job Offer #2 features:
• Full time for 2L summer.
• No extension into school year and no post-grad employment offer
• Rate is $36/hour for 12 weeks.
What do you think? Which one would you choose if it were you? And would the name and reputation of the organizations/companies affect your decision significantly? My concern is post-grad employment, but at the same time I wouldn’t want to take a lower paid job if the post-grad employment opportunity is more of a carrot on a stick situation as the post-grad employment offer is obviously not set in stone or on paper at this point. I am working for a small firm currently on a part-time basis as well. Nothing too significant. 10-12 hours a week, but good experience so far.
Thanks all! I have to get back to them by Friday so would really love to hear from you guys before then!
Cheers!
Thanks in advance for your thought!
